چکیده

Although succinic acid is known to be widely distributed in plant tissues there is only a limited amount of quantitative data on its occurrence. Studies which have been made of the changes in concentration of succinic acid during development of the tobacco plant indicate that it is to be regarded as one of the more active metabolites (4). In a previous study of the organic acids of the cotton plant (2) it developed that 14 to 50%o of the total organic acids in various tissues were reported, as is customary, as "unidentified acids," i.e., acids other than citric, malic and oxalic. This paper presents data on the concentration of succinic acid in the same or similar tissues.

Comparison of oil and fatty acid composition of seed, shoot and in-vitro regenerated organs of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L. var. Sahel)

Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) is a source of edible oil and fatty acids (FAs). In this study, embryos’ explants were cultured in MS medium with different concentration of  plant growth regulators (phytohormones) include BA, IAA, IBA, 2, 4- D and NAA, to finding the relationship of hormone and organogenesis with oil and FAs content. Oil was extracted with chloroform and methanol. FAs o...

Inhibition of linolenic Acid synthesis and modification of chilling resistance in cotton seedlings.

The temperature at which cotton seeds (Gossypium hirsutum L.) germinated influenced the fatty acid composition of the polar lipids of developing root tips. Seeds were germinated at 15, 20, 25, and 30 C. As the temperature decreased the linolemic acid content of the polar lipid fraction increased. Sandoz 9785[4-chloro-5-(dimethylamino)-2-phenyl-3(2H)-pyridazinone] reduced the low temperature-ind...

In vitro Plant Regeneration from the Callus of Shoot Tips in Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L. cv. SVPR 2)

A high efficiency shoot organogenesis from callus cultures and plant establishment protocol has been developed for cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L. cv SVPR-2) through shoot tip. After 6 weeks of culture, green-compact-nodular organogenic callus induction was observed on the medium fortified with (MS) basal salts, B5 vitamins, 2.0 mgl-1 of benzylaminopurine (BAP), 1.0 mgl-1 kinetin (KN), 30 gl-1 gl...
